Admissions Process

Visiting schools to which you’re admitted

For PhD programs (and sometimes MS programs), after you’re admitted, the university may offer you a chance to visit the school and meet the professors. At this meeting, they’ll be trying to convince you to choose their university.

Not many people know this, but even after getting admitted, your job still isn’t done yet! If you’re admitted to a PhD program, depending on the university, you may or may not be guaranteed the advisor of your choice. If you’re an MS student, perhaps you might also be angling for funding. So, if you do visit the university, do try to speak with professors you might be interested in working with, and leave a good impression.
